Helping out Kids Peace for the Christmas Holidays with a donation for foster Kids

Dear Caring Business Professional:

Imagine waking up in a bed that isn’t yours, in a home that isn’t yours, to parents that aren’t yours. Now imagine it is Christmas. That is how foster children feel this time of year.  There is something that you can do to help make their reality a little brighter.

KidsPeace is a private, non-profit organization that has been fulfilling the mission of giving hope, help, and healing to children facing crisis for over 120 years.  In Western New York, KidsPeace provides services out of two offices to eighty foster children between the ages of 1 and 21.  These children struggle with severe behavioral and emotional needs.  Nearly one hundred foster families open their hearts and homes to these special children.

I’m writing to ask for a donation in the form of a $30 to $50 unwrapped gift to be given during the KidsPeace Holiday Party. Our event will be held on December 8, 2005 at the Historic Post Office in Lockport.  We are expecting to have over 100 people in attendance.

We are in need of 32 gifts for children ranging from 8 to age 20, with 27 of the children being age 12 or older.  We are hoping to provide each child with a gift worth $30 to $50, presented unwrapped in gift bags.  Keep in mind that gift cards to cool stores are always welcome gifts, especially for teens.
We would like the gifts here at the KidsPeace office by December 2, 2005.  Within the next two weeks I will have short biographies and “wish lists” for each of our kids available. Please let me know how many kids that you and/or your organization may be able to sponsor, and I will forward you their information.

This year marks our 11th annual Holiday Party and we are excited about the wonderful benefits it will afford our kids.  We would love to add you to the list of proud sponsors and donors.  Your support and commitment to this event will go directly towards foster children in our local community.

On behalf of our Western New York kids, foster families, and staff, thank you for considering a donation to this fun for all event!  Your generous support will be announced at the event.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 438-2080.

Sincerely,
