An estimated 5 to 6 million Americans suffer from fibromyalgia, mostly women.  Symptoms include overwhelming fatigue and trigger points (tender spots). Their sleep is restless and non-refreshing.  They often awaken feeling exhausted with pain and stiffness. Additional clusters of symptoms and/or conditions can include but are not limited to:  migraines, irritable bowel, depression, anxiety and memory difficulties. Fibromyalgia is associated with alpha intrusion, reduced delta and REM sleep patterns, low growth hormone levels, and increased weight gain. Patients are on a myriad of medications. Presence of sleep apnea, restless legs, and/or insomnia MUST be treated.

The Sarah Marium Sleep Foundation’s focus is education of all related health care practitioners and patients.  We take a mutli-dimensional approach to our support group meetings by having various health care professionals present to answer your questions and speak on relevant topics.  Your input and questions are graciously welcomed.   We are here to serve you.   We have experienced professional medical and alternative health care professionals available at our meetings to answer your questions.  We provide an array of free reference materials regarding various informational web sites along with book and magazine publications.
