In the early 1900's the railroad man settle their families in this neighborhood and named it 'Iron Island". The
community used to be surrounded by railroad tracks. You would have to go over or under the tracks to get
into the neighborhood. We always had schools, churches, numerous businesses, police station, fire house, movie theatre, etc. We were called a city within a city and you never had to leave to get what you needed.
