Disaster Supplies Kit

One of the most important tools for personal emergency preparedness is the Disaster Supplies Kit. Listed below are some of the most important items for your kit. Stock up today and store in a water resistant container! Replenish as necessary, especially at the beginning of hurricane season on June 1.

  • o Two week supply of prescription medicines
  • o Two week supply of nonperishable/special dietary foods
  • o Drinking Water/containers: 1 gal/per person/per day (minimum 3 days)
  • o Flashlights and batteries (7 sets) for each member of the family
  • o Portable radio and batteries (7 sets)
  • o NOAA Weather Alert Radio
  • o First aid book and kit including bandages, antiseptic, tape, compresses, non aspirin pain reliever, anti-diarrhea medication
  • o Mosquito repellent & citronella candles
  • o Two coolers (one to keep food; the other to go get ice)
  • o Plastic tarp for roof/window repair, screening, tools and nails, etc.
  • o Water purification kit (tablets, chlorine (plain) and iodine)
  • o Infant necessities (medicine, sterile water, diapers, ready formula, bottles)
  • o Clean up supplies (mop, buckets, towels, disinfectant)
  • o Camera and film
  • o Non-electric can opener
  • o Extra batteries for camera, portable TV & lamps, etc.
  • o Plastic trash bags
  • o Toilet paper, paper towels and pre-moistened towelettes
  • If you evacuate you also should take:
